Today began a Government initiative that promotes the cult of the Timor-Leste national symbols, particularly the National Flag and Anthem.

The National Flag and Anthem represent the national sovereignty, independence, unity and integrity of Timor-Leste and, as a unifying symbol of the Timorese nation, must be respected by all Timorese, whatever their political convictions, religious beliefs or social origins.

Thus, all public servants, and people who wish it, may attend this ceremony, in all State institutions and in schools, on February 2, Falintil-FDTL Day, March 27, PNTL Day, August 20, Armed Forces of National Liberation of Timor-Leste (Falintil) Day and the first Monday of each month.

Today was the beginning of this solemn ceremony at the Government Palace, chaired by the Vice Prime Minister, José Luís Guterres and attended by the Secretaries of State of the Council of Ministers and of Energy Policy and all employees of the Government Palace who made the parade to proudly sing the Timor-Leste National Anthem.

José Luís Guterres reiterated the importance of national symbols and the honor and responsibility we all must feel to be able to continue to serve the People, continuing to promote unity and integrity also for future generations.
