Dili hosts the Fifteenth CPLP General Prosecutors Meeting

From 25 Out until 27 Out

The Fifteenth meeting of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries) General Prosecutors will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, from 25 to 27 October.
On October 25, the General Prosecutors of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, Timor-Leste and the Prosecutor of the Macau Special Administrative Region, will hold a preliminary meeting at 9 am, before the official opening of the Fifteenth Meeting of the CPLP General Prosecutors, first by José da Costa Ximenes, followed by a speech from the President of the National Parliament of the Republic of Timor-Leste, Aniceto Guterres. The following theme will also be presented during that morning: "The General Public Prosecutor and the challenges of Globalization". In the afternoon, the eight CPLP General Prosecutors and the Prosecutor of the Macau Special Administrative Region will be received by the President of the Republic, visiting after the Timorese Resistance Archive and Museum.
On October 26, various topics will be discussed. The first one, at 8:30 am, will be "Domestic Violence. The case of Timor-Leste: Legal and social aspects", presented by Ana Pessoa, the former Timor-Leste General Prosecutor. It will be followed by a 9:15 am presentation entitled "Criminal investigation, deconcentration of competence and inquiry/investigation direction"; and an 11:30 am presentation on "The 'deterritorialization' of criminal activities and the problem of international research cooperation”. At the beginning of the afternoon, the delegates will discuss the web page of the meeting of CPLP General Prosecutors, the instruments and mechanisms for legal and judicial cooperation in the CPLP area and the Memorandum of Understanding that will be signed by the CPLP General Prosecutors. During the afternoon, the following topics will also be discussed: "cybercrime and digital proof", and "Drug trafficking in the CPLP space, creation of a network of contact points, drafting operational manuals".
On the morning of the third day, Friday, October 27, the delegations will visit the Office of the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Timor-Leste.
In the afternoon, the General Prosecutors will debate and sign the Final Dili Declaration and Memorandum of Understanding.
The meeting will finish at 4 pm with the Reading of the Dili Declaration.
