Grant of day off on February 10, 2016
The Government has decided to grant the day off on 10th February 2016 to all employees of ministries, departments and State agencies including all State institutes and other Bodies.
This decision is based on the Law no. 10/2005 from 10th August which determines the national holidays, the official commemorative dates and days off.
Among the official commemorative dates is the Ash Wednesday, which each year has a variable date. Ash Wednesday is a solemn day of great importance for the Christian Community: it is the first day of Lent in the Catholic calendar that occurs forty days before Easter. Therefore the Government grants this day off, on Wednesday, 10th February 2016.
