The government of Timor-Leste condemns the attack on Brazilian democratic institutions

The 8th Constitutional Government expresses its support to the President of the Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who was freely and democratically elected by the Brazilian people and strongly condemns the violence and the attack on democratic institutions.

The Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, stated that he is following with “enormous concern the violent and anti-democratic acts that occurred in Brazil” and that “the use of violence to attack democratic institutions is something unacceptable”.

The Spokesman of the 8th Constitutional Government, Minister Fidelis Magalhães, on behalf of the Council of Ministers and the entire Government, expressed “total support to President Lula” and “vehemently repudiated the invasion and attacks on the Three Powers headquarters in Brasília, which represents an attack on the pillars of the democratic rule of law and a threat to democracy”.
