Government expresses its solidarity with Indonesia

The Government of Timor-Leste extends its deepest condolences to the Government and People of the Republic of Indonesia for the earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale, that struck the Indonesian island of Java, last Monday, November 21st.

According to the latest assessment by the Indonesian authorities, at least 310 people have died, 24 still missing, more than 2,000 people have been injured, about 56,000 houses have been damaged, and more than 62,000 people have been left homeless.

Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and his solidarity with the Indonesian Government and People for this natural disaster.

The 8th Constitutional Government Spokesperson, Minister Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, stated that "our condolences go to the families that lost loved ones and we salute those who remain committed in the search for survivors and in supporting the populations afflicted by this catastrophe". END
