Government members participate in vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in all municipalities

From September 30th to October 23rd 2021, the members of the Eighth Constitutional Government will participate in an intensive vaccination campaign against COVID-19.

The aim of this campaign is to increase the percentage of the population vaccinated throughout the country. According to the data announced on September 29th, nationwide, 58.7 per cent of the population over 18 years old has already received the first dose and 36.1 per cent has already received two doses. There are seven municipalities where more than half of the adult population has not yet received any dose.

In the municipality of Aileu, which on September 29th recorded a percentage of 48.5 per cent of the adult population with at least one dose of the vaccine, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Social Communication, Francisco Martins da Costa Pereira Jerónimo, will be in the Administrative Posts of Aileu Vila and Lequidoe, the Secretary of State for Land and Property, Mário Ximenes, in the Administrative Post of Remexio, and the Secretary of State for Art and Culture, Teófilo Caldas, in the Administrative Post of Laulara.

Ainaro, which had, before the beginning of this campaign, a percentage of 37.5% of the adult population with the first dose, will count with the presence of the Secretary of State for the Affairs of National Liberation Combatants, Gil da Costa Monteiro 'Oan Soru', in the Administrative Post of Ainaro, of the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment, Alarico do Rosário, in Hato-Udo, and of the Secretary of State for Fisheries, Elídio de Araújo, in Maubisse.

In Baucau, where 54.9% of the adult population already had at least the first dose, the Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry, José Lucas do Carmo da Silva, will be in the Baucau and Vemasse Administrative Posts, and the Minister of Petroleum and Minerals, Víctor da Conceição Soares, in Quelicai and Laga. The Vice Minister of Public Works, Nicolau Lino Freitas Belo and the Vice Minister of State Administration, Lino de Jesus Torrezão will be in Venilale and Baguia, respectively.

The Municipality of Bobonaro, which on September 29th recorded a vaccination rate of 42.3%, will have the presence of the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, in Maliana and Lolotoe. The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Armindo Maia will be in Bobonaro Administrative Post and the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture, Longuinhos dos Santos, in Cailaco. The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Pedro dos Reis, will be in Atabae and Balibó.

Dili, the municipality with the highest percentage of vaccination, with 78.2% of the population already having the first dose, values registered on the day before this campaign started, will count with the participation of the Vice Prime Ministers, Armada Berta dos Santos and José Maria dos Reis, in the Administrative Posts of Cristo Rei and Dom Aleixo, respectively. Minister of Finance, Rui Augusto Gomes, will be in Metinaro and Vera Cruz Administrative Posts, and the Vice Minister of Finance, Sara Lobo Brites, will be in the Administrative Posts of Nain Feto and Ataúro.

The vaccination campaign in Ermera, the municipality with the lowest vaccination rate at national level (32.8%), will be attended by the Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo, in the Administrative Post of Ermera, and by the Minister of State Administration, Miguel Pereira de Carvalho, in the Administrative Posts of Letefoho and Hatulia. The Vice Ministers of Health and of Agriculture and Fisheries, Bonifácio Maukoli dos Reis and Abílio Xavier de Araújo, will be in Atsabe and Railaco, respectively.

The Municipality of Covalima, which on September 29th registered a vaccination rate of 68,6%, will be attended by the Minister of Public Works, Salvador Soares dos Reis Pires, in Suai and Zumalai. The Vice Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, António Guterres, will be in the Administrative Post of Maucatar and the Vice Minister of the Interior, António Armindo, will be in Fatumea, Tilomar and Fatululik.

Lautém, which before the beginning of this campaign had a percentage of 49.5% of the adult population with the first dose, will count with the presence of the Vice Minister of Trade and Industry, Domingos Lopes Antunes, in Lautém and Tutuala, of the Secretary of State for Equality and Inclusion, Maria José da Fonseca Monteiro de Jesus, in Lospalos, and of the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Merício Juvinal dos Reis "Akara", in Iliomar and Luro.

In Liquiçá, where 49.2% already had at least one dose of the vaccine against COVID-19, the Minister of Defence, Filomeno da Paixão de Jesus, will participate in Liquiçá and Maubara, and the Secretary of State for the Environment, Demétrio do Amaral de Carvalho, in Bazartete.

The vaccination campaign in Manatuto, with 56.9% of the adult population having at least one vaccine until September 29th, will count with the participation of the Minister of Justice, Manuel Cárceres da Costa, in the Administrative Posts of Manatuto and Lacló and of the Vice Minister of Justice, José Edmundo Caetano, in Barique-Natarbora and Laclúbar. The Administrative Posts of Laleia and Soibada will be attended by the Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Joaquim José Gusmão dos Reis Martins.

In Manufahi, which before the beginning of this campaign had a percentage of 44.7% of the adult population with the first dose, the Minister for the Affairs of National Liberation Combatants, Júlio Sarmento da Costa "Meta Mali", will be in Same and Turiscai. The Vice Minister of Social Solidarity, Signi Chandrawati Verdial, will be in Fatuberliu, and the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, Abrão Saldanha, will be in Alas.

The Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA), with 71.2 per cent of the population over 18 years old with at least the first dose administered, will receive in this vaccination campaign the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis Magno, in Pante Macassar, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Julião da Silva, in Passabe, and also the Vice Minister of Community and Cultural Tourism, Inácia da Conceição Teixeira, in Oesilo and Nitebe.

Finally, the municipality of Viqueque, which on September 29th recorded a percentage of 67.2 per cent of the adult population with at least one dose of the vaccine, will be joined in this campaign by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Joaquim Amaral, in Uato-lari and Uatucarabau, and by the Minister of Transport and Communications, José Agustinho da Silva, in Viqueque, Ossu and Lacluta.
