Members of the Council of Ministers tests negative for COVID-19

After yesterday’s, March 8th, 2021 Council of Ministers meeting, all members of the Government and their technical teams were tested on SARS-CoV-2. The results were received today and all members of the Government and technicians had negative results.

Health authorities are conducting mass testing to identify possible infected and to contain the spread of the virus in our community.

Given the recent cases of SARS-CoV-2 detected in the city of Dili, and the existence of a high probability of community transmission situations, the Government approved, yesterday, a Government Resolution imposing a health fence and the general home confinement of the population residing in this municipality.

Timor-Leste is currently in its eleventh period of state of emergency, and currently has 48 active cases of the new Coronavirus, out of a total of 142 infected, since the start of the pandemic.

The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and 8th Constitutional Government’s Spokesperson “thanked the work of health and security teams, and all those who work daily to guarantee the safety of citizens” and urged “the population to remain calm, without panic, to stay at home, when there no need to leave, and continue to adopt preventive measures, such as wearing mask, frequent hand sanitizing, keeping a distance of, at least three feet from other persons, and avoiding crowds”.
