Government creates Commission for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Strategy to Prevent and Combat COVID-19

The Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, created a Monitoring and Evaluation Committee on the Strategy for Prevention and Combating COVID-19, through Ministerial Diploma 001/PM/III/2020 of 20 March 2020.

The Commission, composed of experienced health professionals, aims to support the Head of Government in decision-making in the fight against COVID-19.

This team will provide technical and strategic advice to the Prime Minister on urgent measures to be taken in preventing and combating COVID-19.

The Commission includes Sérgio Lobo, Former Minister of Health in the Fifth Constitutional Government, Nelson Martins, former Minister of Health in the Fourth Constitutional Government, Ana Isabel de Fátima Sousa, Former Vise-Minister of Health in the Sixth Constitutional Government, Rajesh Pandav, Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Timor-Leste, Cristina Lima, Former Minister of Health of Cape Verde and currently Advisor to the Ministry of Legislative Reform and Parliamentary Affairs and Danina Coelho, Timorese Specialist in infectious-contagious Diseases, at the Stamford International Clinic.

The team met for the first time with the prime-minister today march 23, 2020, with the aim of providing technical and strategic advice on how to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, so that the Head of Government can have detailed information to facilitate quick decision-making.

These health experts will strengthen the work of the Government and the ministerial team, led by the acting Minister of Health, in the fight against this pandemic.
