Central Bank of Timor-Leste Launches New Currency Exchange Machines

The Central Bank of Timor-Leste (BCTL – acronym in Portuguese) presented and demonstrated the use of the new machines for exchanging US dollar notes for coins at an event held on July 19th, 2024, at the Central Bank's premises.
The launch of the machines was led by the Governor of the Central Bank, Helder Lopes, accompanied by the Vice-Governor, Sara Lobo Brites, who emphasised the importance of this new technology in enabling retailers and the general public to convert US dollar notes into coins easily.
Shop and restaurant owners attended the event enthusiastic about the new tool, which promises to improve efficiency in their daily operations.
