Government prepares Action Plan to strengthen the fight Against Stunting
The Vice-Prime Minister and Minister Coordinator for Social Affairs, Mariano Assanami Sabino, accompanied by the Vice-Prime Minister and Minister Coordinator for Economic Affairs Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, with the aim of discussing and approving the National Multisectoral Nutrition Action Plan to Combat Stunting 2024-2030, known as PANKOS. This plan will be later submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval. The meeting took place on July 9, 2024, in the Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão Auditorium at the Ministry of Finance in Dili.
During the ministerial session, the Executive Director of the Mission Unit to Combat Stunting (UNMICS) presented PANKOS, discussing its strategic importance in line with Decree-Law no. 91/2022, the National Strategic Development Plan (SDP 2011-2030), and the National Action Plan to End Hunger in Timor-Leste (PANHAMTIL).
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Health, the Minister of Social Solidarity, the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Minister of Justice, the Deputy Minister of Public Works, the Secretary of State for Livestock representing the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Forestry, the Minister of Planning and Strategic Investment, the Secretary of State for Equality, the Secretary of State for General Secondary Education and Technical-Vocational Secondary Education, the Secretary of State for Social Communication, the Executive Director of CONSSAN-TL, the Coordinator of MCAS, the UNICEF nutrition team and relevant Directors.
