Minister Bendito Freitas begins official visit to China to strengthen bilateral ties
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, began an official visit to the People's Republic of China on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, which will last until April 5th. 
Minister Bendito Freitas' official visit to the People's Republic of China follows an official invitation from his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, to further strengthen diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation between Timor-Leste and China. 
During the bilateral meeting between Minister Bendito Freitas and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, essential issues of mutual interest will be discussed, including the visit of the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, to China, the “Belt and Road” Cooperation Plan, China's position on the South China Sea issue, China's reiterated support for Timor-Leste's accession to ASEAN, cooperation between CPLP member countries and China and the Air Services Agreement between Timor-Leste and China, among other issues.
