Vice Minister of Interior visits border posts in Bobonaro
Vice Minister of Interior, António Armindo, accompanied by the Border Patrol Unit (UPF) Commander, Superintendent João Sancho Pires, visited, in July 30th 2020, UPF’s Alfa Company, the UPF post and the Maliana PNTL police station, in the Municipality of Bobonaro.
Vice Minister stated that “the development of the operational institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior is included in the commitment of the 8th Government, described in its Program, which defines the priority measures for a sustainable development and which defines, in its preamble, the objective of a “change for progress and for well-being”.
“Therefore, together with a Prime Minister’s Office technical team , with a Ministry of Interior technical supply team and with PNTL members, we are conducting this direct observation visit of the UPF and PNTL post facilities, to closely verify the problems and difficulties they are facing, with the Government commitment, through the Ministry of Interior, to solve these challenges”, said António Armindo, in Badut Mean UPF post.
Vice Minister added that, during his mandate, he will continue to contribute in order the PNTL institution to be more and more professional, to serve the State interests, because PNTL is a key pillar for nation.
Vice Minister also affirm that “although this post is built for the UPF, the community should also feel that it also belongs to them, so that we can take care of it together”, in so far as “the community should have the conscience and responsibility to take care of the infrastructure built in their area, because there are some pots offered by the customs to the UPF which are totally damaged”.
During the visit, the Vice Minister analysed the border posts conditions, to verify which ones need rehabilitation and which should be rebuilt.
The Ministry of Interior, in accordance with its priority plan, will focus on improving the UPF posts infrastructure, the PNTL Police Stations, Migration Service and Civil Protection Stations.
In visiting the UPF Headquarters in Batugade, the Vice Minister and the technical team examined the area where a barracks for more than 20 institution members will be installed, in order to define the construction project master plan. In a second phase, the technical team will return to the field to collect data, in order to prepare the barracks and UPF facilities project. Integrated planning will be carried out, with phased implementation of the UPF facilities, according to the existing needs.
Vice Minister and his delegation made visits to the members of the Covalima Bravo Company and visit the UPF posts of Badut Mean, Motain, Nunura, Mozon, Malibaka, Tunubibi, Kalohan and Memo, the integrated post border and migration in Batugade, and, lastly, also visited the BOP Delta’s company, in Solugol’ village, Holsa’ Suco.
