Meeting of the Council of Ministers on September 1st, 2015

The Council of Ministers met this Tuesday, September 1st, 2015, in the meeting room of the Council of Ministers, at the Government Palace in Dili, and approved:

1. Decree Law on licensing of importers of rice 

The rice that, culturally, is essential in the diet of nationals, is a stable food. In this way, it is necessary to ensure its continuous supply, through diversified measures and policies.

The adoption of this legal regime stems from the need to license and regulate the importation of rice for marketing, having regard to the national production.

 

The Council of Ministers also analysed:

 1. Presentation of the report on the implementation of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers

In accordance with the provisions of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, of which Timor-Leste is part, the Government has prepared an initial report, which reflects the situation of migrants in the country, following this way the formalities of the Convention.

The report was prepared after joint analysis of SEFOPE with relevant institutions, such as the Ministry of Justice, Migration Services, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Secretary of State for the Support and Socio-Economical Promotion of Women. The Civil Society, the private sector and representatives of embassies in Timor-Leste also took part in this consultation.

2. Presentation of the program for the Celebrations of 500 years of the Affirmation of the Timorese Identity

The Minister of State Administration, on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the celebrations, presented to the Council of Ministers the program of activities for analysis. The ceremonies want to dignify the History and the process of construction of the Timorese identity, as well as value democracy, political and national unity.

 3. Celebrations of National Mourning

The Minister of State Administration informed the Council of Ministers about the ceremonies of "National Mourning", taking place from September 4th to December 31st, 2015, across the entire national territory.
