National Meeting in order to promote progress

The Government (Ministers, Secretaries of State, General Directors and National Directors), State Institutions and representatives from the private sector, gathered during three days - from August 4th to August 6th - at the Dili Conventions Centre, in order to, together, participate in the “National meeting: identifying problems and finding solutions”.

Several workgroups identified and analysed the challenges faced by the State,Encontro Nacional_4_PGb at an internal operations level, aiming to suggest solutions that allow the maximization of the performance of the Government, of the institutions and, consequently, of the country, in order to accelerate the development process and the progress that the nation has been registering in the last years.

At the end of the meeting, a 10-point commitment was accepted by all (Commitment: 10 Commandments).

There was a general consensus on the need to improve and intensify the ministerial and inter-ministerial coordination, in order to implement the Vision, the Plan and the Action defined by the SDP Matrix.

The national corporate sector made the commitment to intensify its capacity building and ensure the quality of the projects awarded by the State.

The Government made the commitment to create a team, in order to analyse the laws, so there is no duplication and to ensure that the laws are guided towards the development of the country, and also made the commitment to create a team to monitor budget execution.

Encontro Nacional_5_PGaThis national meeting took place a few days after the Annual Meeting of the Timor-Leste Development Partners, where the SDP Matrix was approved - the SDP Matrix is a tool aimed at boosting and ensuring the implementation of the policy set by the Strategic Development Plan of 2011-2030.
