Prime Minister on working visit to São Tomé and Príncipe

Upon arrival at the airport of São Tomé and Príncipe, the sixth country visited by the Prime Minister in this tour, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, was received by his counterpart Gabriel Costa, and several members of the Government.

While crossing the city there was also a warm welcome by the São Tomé community.

Also on June 4, the Prime Minister met with his counterpart from São Tomé and Príncipe and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities. At this meeting the two heads of government spoke of new areas of cooperation between Timor-Leste and São Tomé and Príncipe, which could be further developed in bilateral meetings parallel to the CPLP summit, in July, in Dili.

At the end of the day, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the Minister of Justice, Edit Ramos da Costa Ten Jua, who recently visited Timor-Leste.

At night, the Timorese delegation attended a reception hosted by the Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe, with interventions of both leaders.

On the morning of the second day of the visit, before leaving for Guinea Bissau, the Prime Minister held several meetings. The first was with his counterpart, who replaced the Finance Minister, Hélio de Almeida, who was absent from the country. At this meeting future forms of cooperation were addressed in the area of ​​finance, in particular in financial management systems in the context of cooperation between fragile countries. It was also mentioned the recent accession of São Tomé and Príncipe to the g7+, under which this country should conduct an assessment of fragility.

Following this meeting, the Prime Minister visited the Headquarters of São Tomé and Príncipe Armed Forces.

The last official meeting of this working visit was with the President of São Tomé and Príncipe, Manuel Pinto da Costa, in which the Prime Minister delivered the letter of invitation for the Dili Summit, on behalf of the State of Timor-Leste.
