ASEAN Regional Forum

This week, Timor-Leste hosts the Regional Forum of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) who will discuss the theme “Preventive diplomacy in a post-conflict environment”.
Timor-Leste is a full member of this forum since 2005, which has as its objective the promotion of a constructive dialog on political and security issues at the regional and international level.
The event is jointly chaired by Timor-Leste, Singapore and New Zealand, and among the speakers are Timorese Nobel Peace Prize winner and former President of the Republic José Ramos-Horta and the Minister of Justice, Dionísio Babo.
Participants from approximately 100 countries, such as Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, who are members of ASEAN; Australia, Canada, China, European Union, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia and the USA; as well as observer countries of the organization, such as Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste.
