In the wake of coordinated attacks in Central Jakarta yesterday the Government of Timor-Leste expresses its solidarity with the Government and people of Indonesia.
The Government of Timor-Leste condemns the attacks as unacceptable and criminal acts of violence and sincerely conveys its condolences to the families and friends of those killed and injured.
The Government wholeheartedly supports the declaration of Indonesian President Mr. Joko Widodo, who has said “Our nation and our people should not be afraid, we will not be defeated by these acts of terror”.
Spokesperson for the Sixth Constitutional Government, Minister of State Agio Pereira noted “we stand firmly in a spirit of solidarity and friendship with the Government and people of our close neighbor at this difficult time. These attacks have no place in our region. At this time we also commend the work of the security and emergency services in responding quickly and effectively to this challenging event.”
