Construction of Betano Power Station meets internationally-recognised quality standards

On 16 April, 2013 Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, accompanied by the Secretary of State for Electricity, Januário Pereira, visited the Betano Electric Centre in order to observe the construction that will supply the entire Southern Coast of the territory.
“The construction of the project is 100% complete. Only the contact poles are yet to be installed outside of it. We are waiting for the relevant parts, which are already at Dili Port. Inauguration has been scheduled for the beginning of July. The construction meets internationally-recognised quality standards and is being developed by professionals from Finland and India. The Government is making every effort to ensure that the population in the sub-districts has access to electricity”, the Secretary of State for Electricity, Januário Pereira, said.
