Minister Bendito Freitas and the Governor of China's Guangxi Province explore cooperation possibilities
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, accompanied by Timor-Leste's Ambassador to China, Loro Horta, met with the Governor of Guangxi Province, People's Republic of China, Lan Tianli, and his team to discuss possibilities for cooperation between the Guangxi region and Timor-Leste.
Guangxi is a province in southern China bordering Vietnam and is close to several Southeast Asian countries. This strategic geographical location has boosted economic and trade relations between Guangxi and Southeast Asian countries.
Minister Bendito Freitas stressed the importance of strengthening diplomatic relations and cooperation with Guangxi Province, especially in Timor-Leste's future full membership of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
