Prime Minister participates in the Inaugural Meeting of the Pacific Islands Development Forum

The Inaugural Meeting of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) with the theme: "Leadership, Innovation and Partnership for Green/Blue Pacific Economies" will be held from the 05th to 07th August, 2013.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Fiji, the Government of Fiji and the Pacific Islands Development Forum will be hosting the Inaugural Meeting of the Pacific Island Development Forum at Denarau Island.

The PIDF brings together Government, business and civil society leaders from the Pacific to secure the future of the Pacific through the Green Economy.

The Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão will speak at the official opening session, on the 5th August, along with the country's first Prime Minister of Fiji, Commodore J. V. Bainimarama.

The mission of the PIDF is to empower the People of the Pacific to create positive change in their communities and nations by spreading proven best practices, strategy, tools, and visionary ideas to achieve sustainability and reduce poverty through the green economy.
