SoSPTEP will implement a Computer-Based Test system, in November 2013
The State Secretariat for Professional Training and Employment Policy (SoSPTEP), in collaboration with South Korea, will change the workers’ application system, by implementing the “Computer-Based Test (CBT)” system, starting November 2013.
The application system currently in use is the Paper-Based Test (PBT), in which workers do the tests on paper, but this system is being increasingly replaced by computer tests, the Computer-Based Test.
Therefore, aiming a better understanding of CBT, a SoSPTEP’s delegation, represented by the National Directorate of Employment and the South Korean Human Resources Development area in Timor-Leste, organized a visit, last July 5th, to the Employment Permit System Department, in Jakarta.
The purpose of the visit was to see the CBT program, already implement in this neighbour country, since South Korean Government has already asked the countries of origin of the workers sent to South Korea, to use this system.
During the stay in Jakarta, the delegation met with the Director-General of Indonesia’s EPS, Min Kiung Il, and his workers, to share experiences related to the workers’ recruitment system. According to Min Kyung Il, “CBT’s program was recently launched in Indonesia, in 2012. Before that, we only used the PBT system for the workers to do the application test,.
According to Benigno da Cruz, SoSPTEP’s Chief of Staff, “this visit to Indonesia was very important to SoSPTEP and South Korea, once it is a reference on the implementation of CBT’s system. This is a new program and, through this visit, we get experiences shared by our Indonesian friends”.
On the SoSPTEP’s delegation were included: the Chief of Staff, Benigno da Cruz; the National Employment’s Director, Paulo Alves; the Head of the Employment Department, Lúcio Bere Tasi and the Head of the SoSPTEP’s Employment Permit System, Valêncio de Jesus. South Korea’s delegation included the Human Resources Development Director, Young and the Korean language’s teacher, Lee.
Besides this visit to EPS, the SoSPTEP’s delegation also visited the Centre for the Development and Protection of Indonesian Workers (Balai Besar Pengembangan da Perlindungan Tenaga Kerja Indonesia) and the Korea’s Cultural Centre on the Embassy of the Republic of South Korea.
