Council of Ministers Meeting from February 16, 2012
The Council of Ministers extraordinarily met this Thursday, February 16, 2012, in the Council of Ministers Meeting Room, at the Government Palace, in Díli and approved:
1. Financial Support to the Candidates for President of the Republic
Taking into account the need to ensure that all candidates run for election as President of the Republic, under equal conditions, the Council of Ministers grants a minimum financial support, which represents an act of support by the State to one of the iconic acts of Democracy, in the amount of $ 10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars) to each of the official candidates, for the first round of elections for the Presidency, while respecting the principle of equality of opportunity and treatment.
In the event of a second round in the same election process, the amount of $10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars) in public funding will again be assigned to each of the two candidates.
