National Conference on Community Radios

The Community Radio Centre (CRC), organism of the Secretariat of State of the Council of Ministers, will host on September 6 and 7, a National Conference on community radio stationsin the Teacher Education Center, located at the former CNRT in Balide.

Main objectives:
- Understand the situation of the media in Timor-Leste and the contribution of community radio in the process of nation building;
- Renewing the principles of community radio and plan for participation ;
- Support from the community, to the sustainability of radios.

The conference will count on the presence of the following speakers:
- Avelino Coelho, Secretary of State for Energy Policy (substituting the Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers, Ágio Pereira), with the theme "Perspective of the Timor-Leste Government and the support of Community Radio in the process of nation-building";
Stephen Malloch, office coordinator of communications and public information from UNMIT with the theme "Key Results of the study on media in Timor-Leste: access to information from the community and radio coverage in the community";
- Rosario Martins Maia, director of programming at Radio Timor-Leste, with the theme "Radio Timor-Leste: vision, plan and partnership with community radio stations";
- Prezado Ximenes, President of the Association of Community Radios in Timor-Leste, with the theme "ARCTL: mission and program of activities";
- Imam Prakosa, consultant from Indonesia, with the theme "Community radio: principles and experiences in Asia."
