Government Expresses Solidarity with the People's Republic of China in the Face of Flooding in Gansu Province
The Government of Timor-Leste expresses its deep solidarity with the Government and people of the People's Republic of China, in particular the communities in Gansu Province affected by the torrential rains and floods that occurred on August 7th and 8th 2025, which resulted in loss of life, missing persons, and destruction of infrastructure and livelihoods.
The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Government Spokesperson, Agio Pereira, expressed ‘deep sorrow for the tragic loss of human lives and the enormous difficulties faced by the communities of Gansu province at this time of pain and trial.’ He added that ‘our thoughts are with the victims and their families, and we recognize the heroic efforts of the rescue teams and all the professionals who continue to aid the populations affected by this disaster.’ END
