Government submits General State Budget Proposal for 2025 to National Parliament
The Government, through the Minister of Finance, Santina José Rodrigues F. Viegas Cardoso, today, October 1st 2024, handed over to the President of the National Parliament, Maria Fernanda Lay, the General State Budget (GSB) for 2025. The Minister of Finance was accompanied by the Vice-Minister of Finance, Felícia Claudinanda Cruz Carvalho, and the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Expedito Dias Ximenes.
The Budget reflects the development strategy outlined by the IX Constitutional Government, with particular emphasis on investment in strategic infrastructures, strengthening the national economy and improving the living conditions of the population. The total value of the 2025 State Budget Proposal is 2.6 billion US dollars, earmarked for the Central Administration, the Special Administrative Region of Oe-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA) and Social Security.
The proposal follows the priorities set out in the Government Programme, highlighting the allocation of resources for the construction and maintenance of infrastructure, the expansion of the electricity grid, the strengthening of the health and education system, and continued support for the most vulnerable families. The 2025 State Budget also aims to promote sustainable economic growth and ensure that the benefits of development are equitably distributed among all citizens.
The draft Law was approved by the Council of Ministers at yesterday's meeting.
