49th FALINTIL anniversary
The celebrations for the 49th anniversary of FALINTIL will take place on the 19th and 20th of August 2024, under the theme "Celebrating the 20th of August is commemorating the struggle of FALINTIL, which was not different, but was unique. It is a moment for reflection and change!"
On the 19th, at 07:00, a Mass in honour of the National Heroes will be held at the Motael Church, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Garden of Heroes in Metinaro.
On the 20th, the anniversary day of FALINTIL, the military ceremonies will begin at 08:30 at the F-FDTL headquarters, with the arrival of guests and the assembly of the troops.
At 09:00, the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, José Ramos-Horta, will be present at the solemn ceremony, followed by military honours at 09:45.
At 10:00, the National Standard will be integrated into the troops on parade, followed by a tribute to the National Heroes who fell in service to the homeland, including a minute of silence and a prayer in their memory.
At 10:45, the Chief of Staff of the FALINTIL-FDTL, Lieutenant General Domingos Raúl "Falur Rate Laek", will deliver his speech, followed by the speech of the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, at 11:00.
After the speeches, there will be a military parade at 11:20, followed by a presentation of activities and military demonstrations between components and units of the F-FDTL.
The programme will conclude with a convivial lunch at 11:55, followed by a visit to the military materials exhibition and fair at 12:15. The celebrations will officially end at 12:30.
