Press Release
Day Off on the 18th March 2022
The Government has decided to grant day off on the 18th March, to all the employees and agents of the ministries or their dependent services, as well as the institutes and integrated indirect State administration bodies, due to the first round of the Presidential Election.
Taking into account that many of the voters are registered in their municipality of origin which is not, in many cases, the location where they reside, they are required to travel to exercise their right and political duty and then return to their place of residence.
This decision is based on Law no. 10/2005, of August 10th, which determines the days that are national holidays and official commemorative dates and which allows that days off can be granted for reasons of national events, in this case in particular, an electoral date. END
