8th Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Restoration of Independence

From 19 May until 20 May

The official commemoration of Timor-Leste’s Restoration of Independence day, on the 20th of May, will be at the President of the Republic Palace and the Organization Commission of the Minister of State Administration will be in charge.

The ceremonies will begin on the 19th, Wednesday, with a Mass in the Cathedral around 9 am. On the 20th of May, the President of the Republic Palace will welcome the Armed Forces at 7am, followed by the usual inspection of the troupes by the President of the Republic, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, the raising of the Flag, presenting of arms and a proper Homage to the Heroes that fell for their Nation. After a cocktail, the festivities will continue again at 4 pm and will end with the lowering of the Flag.

The President of the Republic, the Vice-Prime-Minister José Luís Guterres, representing the Prime-Minister, the President of the National Parliament and the President of the Court of Appeal, among others, will be present.
