Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak postpones visit to Australia
The Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, requested today, Tuesday, a postponement of the official visit to Australia, planned for this Wednesday. The request for postponement is related to health reasons, as the Head of Government and his wife, Isabel Ferreira, are positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The swab test was conducted yesterday, the 7th, and the results were released this afternoon, the 8th.
Despite being both positive for COVID-19, both the Chief Executive and his wife are in good health. According to the medical recommendation, the Chief Executive should remain at home and rest, following the health protocol for such cases, until the re-testing.
Regarding the request to postpone this official visit, the Head of Government has already conveyed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis Magno, to formally communicate this situation to the Government of Australia. The official visit will be rescheduled in due time. END
