General cleaning initiative continues and takes place every Friday
The Government will continue the actions of general cleaning, to be performed by all employees of the organs and services of public administration, at the national level. The initiative that began last week, will also take place tomorrow, February 4th, 2022, throughout the day and will be held every Friday.
The Ministry of State Administration will be responsible for disseminating the guidelines for the organisation and distribution of teams for general cleaning to the organs and services of the public administration.
The Government appeals to the mobilisation of the entire population to join in the cleaning of public spaces, their neighbourhoods and homes.
This cleaning campaign is part of the measures to combat the dengue outbreak which are being conducted, since December 2021, by the Ministry of Health and other government entities and partners.
So far, a total of 1407 cases and 22 deaths have been registered, according to data announced yesterday by the Ministry of Health. Dili is the most affected municipality, with a total of 925 cases.
In addition to the precautions to be taken to prevent dengue, the Government appeals to the population to remain vigilant and also adopt preventive measures for COVID-19, given the recent rise in the number of people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the spread of the Omicron variant in our country.
In the last week, the number of cases has risen sharply and figures released yesterday by the Ministry of Health indicate that there are currently 268 active cases, 266 of which are in Dili.
Since the start of the pandemic, Timor-Leste has recorded 20,136 cases of the new coronavirus infection and 122 people have died from SARS-CoV-2 infection.
The Government appeals to the entire population so that whenever they have symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, cold and breathing difficulties or shortness of breath, they should go to a health facility for a quick diagnosis of the disease, to avoid more serious situations.
All persons who have not yet been vaccinated are also requested to come to the vaccination centres to receive the vaccine against COVID-19. Citizens who have already been vaccinated are also offered the third dose at the vaccination centres.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Government appeals to the collaboration of all citizens to adopt preventive measures, such as wearing masks, washing hands regularly, avoiding touching faces with hands, keeping a distance of at least one metre from other individuals and avoiding public gatherings.
