Government decides to reactivate Integrated Crisis Management Center as Situation Room
The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Government Spokesperson, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, announced today, February 2nd, 2021, that the Executive through a Prime Ministers Order, determined to activate the Integrated Crisis Management Centre (CIGC – Portuguese acronym) as Situation Room, to respond to the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic.
This decision takes effect from February 2nd, 2021, 00:00 a.m. and expires with the end of the state of emergency.
The Prime Ministers Order states that in view of the enactment of a state of emergency and the need to ensure effective and efficient coordination of all state bodies, in order to respond to the threat posed by COVID-19, it becomes absolutely unavoidable to ensure the functioning of the CIGC as a situation room.
On January 27th, the President of the Republic decreed the renewal of the state of emergency, for another 30 days, between February, 2nd, 00:00 a.m. and March 3rd, 2021, 11:59 p.m., given that globally, the epidemiological situation shows a notorious trend of aggravation and “in particular the pandemic evolution in the Indonesian province of Eastern Sunda (Nusa Tenggara Timur, or NTT), it is necessary to maintain an important set of measures to prevent the importation of SARS-CoV-2 into the national territory and its transmission among the population.
The situation room will operate in the Dili Convention Centre and will also have three territorial units, in the Special Administrative of Oe-Cusse-Ambeno (RAEOA), in Bobonaro and in Covalima. The territorial units will be responsible for implementing the activities of the Situation Room at the level of the first level of administrative districts.
The Operational Commander of the Situation Room is the Prime Minister, who will be responsible for the direction of all the operations developed, for coordinating the units and for linking the Situation Room with the Council of Ministers and the individual bodies of the Government. END
