Government of Timor-Leste expresses condolences to the people of Haiti
On behalf of the Government and people of Timor-Leste, the Prime Minister H.E. Xanana Gusmão, today extended deep condolences to the people of Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake.
In a letter to the Prime Minister of Haiti, H.E. Jean-Max Bellerive, Mr. Gusmão expressed the “enormous shock and sadness” felt by the Timorese people as they learned of the earthquake and it’s terrible impact. He affirmed faith that people have in “the courage and resilience of the men and women of Haiti”, and expressed the hope that given time there would be recovery and reconstruction.
The people of Timor-Leste, with hearts of compassion, stand in solidarity with those suffering in Haiti at this difficult time.
