TAUR MATAN RUAK

1956
Taur Matan Ruak was born on October 10, 1956, in the suco of Osuna Huna, administrative post of Baguia, Municipality of Baucau, Timor-Leste.

1975
On the 7^th of December 1975, Indonesia invaded Timor-Leste and Taur Matan Ruak, then 19, joins the newly formed National Liberation Armed Forces of Timor-Leste (FALINTIL) in the mountains.

1976
Assumes responsibilities in the two eastern military sectors: center east and east.

Assistant to the Chief of Defence Force (CDF) of FALINTIL

Military adviser and Deputy Chief of Defence Force (CDF) of FALINTIL

1986

From 1986, he took command of all military operations in Timor-Leste

On the 20^th of August of 2011 is officially demobilized from FALINTIL

President of the Popular Liberation Party (PLP)

2018

Spokesperson for the Majority Alliance for Progress (AMP), which brought together the three opposition parties, namely CNRT, PLP and KHUNTO

On May 12, 2018, the Majority Alliance for Progress (AMP) coalition won the early legislative elections and appointed Taur Matan Ruak to the post of Prime Minister.

On June 22, 2018, Taur Matan Ruak takes office as Prime Minister of the VIII Constitutional Government.
Taur Matan Ruak is married to Dr. Isabel da Costa Ferreira, a lawyer who worked in the area of human rights and, among the various relevant functions, was Deputy Minister of Justice.

He has two daughters, Lola and Tamarisa, and a son, Quesadhip.

Taur Matan Ruak speaks three languages of Timor-Leste (Tetum, Naueti and Makasae), Portuguese and English.

2020
25 of May 2020, FRETILIN-PLP-KHUNTO - formed alliance. The current Prime-Minister managed to unite the most voted Political Party FRETILIN to form the new Alliance (for the current VIII Constitutional Government) the VIII Government is at the end of its term, the Parliamentary Elections is due to be call.
