Celebrations of the Day of National Heroes

To honour the President of FRETILIN, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and FALINTIL’s Commander-in-Chief, Nicolau Lobato, on December 31st the anniversary of his death in combat in 1978, in the valley of Mindelo, Same, will be remembered as the Day of the National Heroes.
The tribute starts on December 28th, with the launch of cultural competitions, including Timorese traditional dances. The trophy awarding ceremony will be held on the 31st, at 19h00, in the Dili Conventions Centre.
At 8h00 in the morning the official ceremony will be held, next to the statue of Nicolau Lobato, in Comoro.
