Government congratulates Thailand on Accession of King
The Office of the Prime Minister was officially informed by the Royal Thai Embassy in Dili last week that on the 1st of December, “His Royal Highness Crown Prime Maha Vajiralongkorn graciously accepted the invitation by the President of the National Legislative Assembly”, in accordance with the Palace Law on Succession and the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, “to ascend to the Throne as His Majesty King Rama X of the Royal House of Chakri.”
The Prime Minister and Government of Timor-Leste convey their warm congratulations to the King and to the Thai people.
The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, explained that “His Royal Highness who has been the Heir to the Throne for 44 years, since 1972” was now “accorded full royal prerogatives as stipulated by the Constitution” and said that the “Royal Coronation Ceremony” would be at the discretion of the King. It has been indicated that this will occur after the Royal Cremation Ceremony for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej next year.
Government Spokesperson, Minister of State Agio Pereira said “the Government reaffirms its warm friendship with the people of Thailand and congratulates the Crown Prince on his accession.”ENDS
