With the financial cooperation of the Unit for Support to Civil Society from the Prime Minister's Office, the monastery of the Poor Clare Sisters was inaugurated in Maliana, on November 21st. The construction had an important financial help from the Portuguese Government, and reflects the recognition of the important work of the sisters at community level, in the areas of education and primary health care, in addition to the pastoral activity inherent to the Order.

The Bishop of Maliana, D. Norberto do Amaral, took steps, in 2012, for the settlement of the Poor Clare Sisters in the parish of Tunubibi. His Diocese and the local population provided the land and the construction of the Monastery begun in 2014.

It was therefore with great pride that D. Norberto do Amaral presided over the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by the Ambassador of Portugal, Manuel Gonçalves de Jesus, the Coordinator of the Unit for Support to Civil Society from the PrimeIMG_6013 Minister’s Office, Joaquim Pereira, the Administrator of the Municipality of Bobonaro, the Head of the Administrative Post of Maliana, Hamlet Chiefs, several religious orders and many other people.
