Congratulations to President-elect of the United States of America
The Government of Timor-Leste congratulates Mr. Donald J Trump on his election as the next President of the United States of America.
Timor-Leste enjoys a close and warm relationship with the United States based on shared interests and values. The United States Government has been a steadfast supporter of Timor-Leste partnering to strengthen democracy and growth.
Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo, in a letter of congratulations sent to the President-elect, recalled that the United States “showed great solidarity” with the Timorese people on the restoration of independence and that “we continue to enjoy strong bonds of friendship and cooperation.”
He went on to wish Mr. Trump “every success” as he assumed the Office of the President of the United States of America and said that he looked forward to working with the Trump administration “on issues of mutual benefit and cooperation.”
The Government of Timor-Leste notes that the already strong bilateral ties between our two nations will continue to be enriched as we engage with President-elect Trump, his administration, and the United States Congress in the years ahead. ENDS
