Celebration of the 41st anniversary of FALINTIL
The celebrations of the 41st anniversary of FALINTIL, organised by the Ministry of Defence, will be held from August 18th to 20th, in Dili.
On March 18th, at the Auditorium of the F-FDTL Headquarters, in Fatuhada, a seminar on Falintil in the History of Timor-Leste will be held, with contributions from Dr. Mari Alkatiri, who will address the issue of decolonization, creation of parties and creation of FALINTIL; Dr. Ramos-Horta, who will speak on the organization of the combatants and founders of the national liberation and their supporters in Asia and in the world; and Dr. Francisco Guterres Lu-Olo, who will examine the question of the definition of the stages of armed resistance and the last step on the sovereignty at sea, air and land to establish national sovereignty, peace and stability, toward prosperity and well-being. The conference will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Aurelio Guterres.
On the 19th, at the beginning of the afternoon, a Mass will be held in the Cathedral of Dili. In the late afternoon, tribute will be paid to the national heroes, in the Garden of Heroes, in Metinaro.
On the 20th, the day of FALINTIL’s anniversary, at 8h00 in the Headquarters of the F-FDTL, the military celebrations will start, with the special participation of the Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Sen. Before the speech of the President of the National Parliament, Adérito Hugo da Costa, military promotions will be announced. Still before lunch, there will be a student's march. The ceremony of the Lowering of the Flag, at 17h00, will be presided by the Prime Minister, Rui Maria de Araújo. The dinner at the Convention Center in Dili, will be hosted by the Chief of Staff of the F-FDTL, Major General Lere Anan Timur.
