5th Conference on Timor-Leste’s De-concentration, Administrative Decentralization and Local Government

The 5th Conference on Timor-Leste’s De-concentration, Administrative Decentralization and Local Government, is being held at the Hotel Timor in Dili on the 17th and 18th of August.
On the first day of the Conference three sessions were devoted to the topics: "The process of administrative de-concentration and its implications for the Cooperation Protocol between Timor-Leste, Australia, Portugal and China"; "The contribution of foreign investment in the municipal development process for the future Local Government"; and "How can cooperation and support of the municipal administrative development agreements ensure skills in the municipalities, letting Local Government authorities take on the responsibility during the period of administrative de-concentration."
On the 18th there workshops are being held on "Joint training models" and "Meeting with cities with friendship agreements and municipal partners."
This Conference will issue a Dili Declaration of the Australian Friendly Cities continued support and the Portuguese authorities partnership on the Administrative Decentralization process in Timor-Leste. The Vice Minister of State Administration, Tomas Cabral, will make the closing remearks.
On the 19th of August the delegations will perform several visits, which will include the Resistance Museum, the Santa Cruz Cemetery, the Heroes Garden in Metinaro and Behau in Ilimano.
The 5th Conference on De-concentration, Administrative Decentralization and Timor-Leste Local Government aims to analyse and ensure the continuity of the international partners’ technical and material support.
