Government congratulates Prime Minister Elect of Australia
The Government of Timor-Leste extends its warm congratulations to the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP, on being elected as the Member for Wentworth and to continue in his role as Prime Minister of Australia.
In a letter sent to congratulate Mr. Turnbull, Prime Minister Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo noted “Australia is a close neighbour and good friend of Timor-Leste” with the two nations sharing a unique history, common values and deep people to people relationships.
Prime Minister Araújo expressed his belief that following the election victory both countries were well placed to further strengthen their bilateral relationship. He said he would welcome the opportunity to discuss permanent maritime boundaries and other issues of mutual interest, cooperation and friendship.
