Conciliation Commission established with the appointment of its Chair
The Government of Timor-Leste has been advised that the four members appointed to the Conciliation Commission have now appointed the fifth and final member, Ambassador Takoe-Jensen. The fifth member is the Chair of the Commission, the other members of which are the four party appointed conciliators, Judge Abdul Koroma and Judge Rüdiger Wolfrum (appointed by Timor-Leste) and Dr Rosalie Balkin and Professor Donald McRae (appointed by Australia).
The Conciliators are experts in the field of international law and are independent of the parties. The appointment of the Chair allows the Conciliation to move to the next step in its process - its first procedural meeting to discuss process and procedures.
