Grant of day off on March 24, 2016
The Government has decided to grant the day off on 24th of March, 2016, to all employees of ministries, departments and State agencies including all State institutes and other Bodies.
This decision is based on Law no. 10/2005, from 10th August 10, which determines the national holidays, the official commemorative dates and days off. Amongst the commemorative dates is Holy Thursday which each year has a variable date.
The Holy Thursday this year is celebrated on 24th of March. It is the last day of Lent in the catholic religion’s calendar, and is one of the solemnities of great importance to the Christian Community in Timor-Leste. Therefore the Government grants this day off, on Thursday, 24th of March, 2016.
