Meeting of the Council of Ministers of March 1st, 2016
The Council of Ministers met this Tuesday, March 1st, at the Government Palace in Dili, and approved the Proposal for the review of the design of the BoQ - Bill of Quantities - for the Oe-Cusse Ambeno airport, presented by the consortium responsible for the project.
Detailed technical studies, validated by the consultant, were recently concluded taking into account the new sizes, qualifications and construction timetable. The knowledge acquired with the soil characterization and the reduction of operational sizes has led to a substantial reduction of the projected work cost, whilst keeping all applicable regulatory quality parameters.
The Council of Ministers also reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding on the "WithOneSeed" ("Ho Musan Ida") Program.
The Memorandum of Understanding for this Program, to be signed between the Government and the Xpand Foundation, was presented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, together with representatives from the Foundation. The Programme is planned to be undertaken in the Administrative Post of Baguia, Municipality of Baucau.
This is a social initiative with environmental concerns, already under development in Timor-Leste, which promotes community forestry initiatives, such as carbon capture (natural process of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere). This programme aims to make a sustainable environment, contribute to ending poverty and hunger, promote knowledge and awareness on environmental issues and create regional partnerships.
