Press Release
Meeting of the Council of Ministers from June 11th, 2015
The Council of Ministers met this Thursday, June 11th, 2015, in the meeting room of Council of Ministers, at the Government Palace, in Díli, and approved:
1. Decree Law on Planning, Budgeting, Monitoring and Assessment
The approval of this legal framework outcomes from the need to connect the annual plans from State Institutions to General State Budget, in a more explicit way, and developing financial reporting and monitoring tools, thus allowing the Government to have better control over operational expenses and for the people to know exactly how much of their money is being spent.
2. Government Resolution approving the Agreement between the DRTL and the EU over Visa Exemption during Short Term Stays
Considering the signature on May 26th, 2015, the current agreement foresees visa exemption to European Union citizens and Timor-Leste citizens travelling onto the land from the other counterpart, for a maximum period of 90 days per period of 180 days.
3. Decree Law approving the Organic Structure for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation
With the approval of the Organic Structure for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, it is intended to carry out a structural readjustment of the Ministry, by reducing the number of central services (with the reduction of General Directorates and National Directorates), clarifying and better distributing its attributions and competences, aiming to reduce bureaucracy and promote accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of the institution.
