Prime Minister transported to Singapore for medical treatment

Today Prime Minister H.E. Dr Rui Maria de Araújo is flying to Singapore for medical tests. The Prime Minister became unwell on Sunday evening after returning from a working visit to Ainaro.

A thorough examination by doctors at Guido Valadares National Hospital indicated the need for further tests, as stated by the Director of the Hospital, José António Gusmão Guterres, in a press conference, adding that doctors recommended a transfer to hospital in Singapore for a complete checkup.

In accordance with the Constitution Minister of State Agio Pereira will assume the duties of the Prime Minister.

The Government will continue to update on the progress of the Prime Minister and joins all Timorese in wishing him good health and a quick return to Timor-Leste.
