Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the 3rd March 2015
The Council of Ministers met this Tuesday, March 3rd 2015, in the Council of Ministers’ meeting room, at the Government Palace, in Díli, and approved the Sixth Constitutional Government Program.
After an analysis of the Program’s first draft, at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers held last Friday, the alterations suggested by the members of Government for each ministerial sector were introduced in the document. The final text was reanalysed and approved by the Council of Ministers, and is to be delivered to the National Parliament within the present week.
The Program of the Sixth Constitutional Government was approved only three weeks after the Government took office, under “exceptional circumstances of a profound remodelling of the Fifth Government”, states the beginning of the preamble of the document that also reminds of the “common understanding of the need for a greater dynamic in terms of Government efficiency and a greater convergence of actions to implement the Strategic Development Plan 2011/2030 and, fundamentally, a better service provision to the population”.
Although with a shorter mandate, which will last two and a half years, “the Government is committed in developing the country”, and undertakes “the commitment that dialogue, consultation and institutional cooperation, be it within the government team, or between it and other State Bodies, are fundamental to achieve the objective of national development”.
Reflecting what has been defended by the Prime Minister, Dr. Rui Araújo, and which has been at the genesis of the formation of this Government, the “perspective of continuity will reflect in the continuance of the programs and policies already underway and that were established in the Strategic Development Plan and the Program of the Fifth Constitutional Government. It also touches, at the same time, on the new challenges that are presented to the country, due to Timor-Leste’s recent accelerated growth and which now requires new diligences to ensure that the entire population may enjoy economic and social development”.
The Program translates the Sixth Government’s motto: “One for all, All for one”. “Together we can do better”, this is the spirit that must move our society for the collective construction of our nation, making Timor-Leste, and ourselves, resilient and capable to face present and future challenges”, can also be read in the preamble of the Program that will guide the executive’s actions until 2017.
