Timor-Leste assures relations with the International Community
The Government of Timor-Leste continues to assure the relations with the International Community, through international organizations, such as African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) and European External Action Service (EEAS).
On his visit to Brussels, on December 12th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Luís Guterres, spoke above all about the peaceful situation and the development process in Timor-Leste.
Being Timor-Leste one of the members of ACP, José Luís Guterres, compromised himself in supporting its activities and requested this organization to present the support priorities to the activities, as a way of contributing to the development progress of Timor-Leste.
According to the Secretary-General of ACP, Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, the participation of the Minister José Luís Guterres in this meeting, demonstrates the credibility of Timor-Leste and an example to ACP, even referring that “we got satisfied when we knew that Timor-Leste supported Guiné-Bissau”.
At the meeting with the Director for Asia and Pacific, Vorel Isticioaia-Budura, and the Director-General of DEVCO (Development and Cooperation) of EEAS, Fernando Frutuoso de Melo, José Luís Guterres thanked for the global vision of support to eradication of poverty in small countries.
Also present at the bilateral meeting were the Ambassador of Timor-Leste in Brussels, Nélson dos Santos, the Pacific National Director, Aleixo da Silva and the Assistant of the National Authorizing Officer (NAO), Madalena Hanjam Costa Soares.
