The Minister of Justice, Dionísio Babo, inducted, last December 5th, five Notaries and Civil Registrars, in a ceremony that took place at the building of the National Directorate for Registration and Notary (NDRN), in Díli. These are the first Timorese specialized in the area of notary and civil registry, with the role of legalizing important documents.

In his speech, Dionísio Babo referred that “Timor-Leste is proud of now having five qualified people with an important mission to serve the People. Your presence is very important and you have a lot of work ahead of you”.

The initiative of inducting Timorese in these areas was of the former Minister of Justice, Lúcia Lobato, with the support of the Portuguese Government.  Notaries and Civil Registrars will be deployed to the districts, so they can help Judges in decision making about cases related to document forgery.

The President of the Civil Service Commission, Eng. Libório Pereira, himself greeted the newly inducted and requested them, as public servants, to perform their duties according to the laws in effect.

At the same ceremony, the President of the Court of Appeal, Cláudio Ximenes, also asked the newly inducted to work with responsibility on the support they will provide to judges in their daily tasks.
