Educational Media as a means of teaching and apprenticeship

The National Directorate for Educational Media and Printing Centre, responsible for apprenticeship through television, radio and publications of the Ministry of Education, organized a workshop, on December 4th, in Díli, under the theme “Presentation of the Progress, Challenge and Apprenticeship Program and Plan for 2014-2017”.

The workshop is aimed at presenting work already performed, gathering ideas from the relevant entities to known the potential, challenges and strategies, in order to better develop Educational Media in the future.

The General Director for Corporate Services of the Ministry of Education, Antoninho Pires, highlighted to journalists that this workshop helps us to know the importance of using Educational Media as a means of allowing teachers and students to use the television channel to teach and study the subjects.

On the same occasion, the President of the Civil Service Commission, Eng. Libório Pereira, stressed that not every apprenticeship processes are made just through classes but they may also exist through radio and television.

“It is necessary to better address the facilities of Educational Media so that, in the future, the Government can develop the educational programs through Education Television, thus also allowing people to learn from home”, explained Libório Pereira.

In today’s globalized world, digital technology allows people to have access to educational material in a quicker and easier way than eventually through the apprenticeship process in class.

The Secretary of State for Media, Nélio Isaac Sarmento, on the other hand, highlighted that the National Directorate for Educational Media plays an important role next to the community and the nation, especially to students.

“Educational Media not only passes knowledge to youngsters, but also knowledge to the people”.

Still on Education Television, Nélio Isaac Sarmento highlighted that “the plan is very good and it should be in line with the infrastructures in the education sector”.
