PNTL and IRP cooperate in fighting organized crime
The Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL), in cooperation with the Indonesian Republic Police (IRP), organized a two-day international seminar, on November 26th and 27th, at the Díli Conventions Centre, dedicated to the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking.
The PNTL Commander General, Commissioner Longuinhos Monteiro, considered this international seminar as of major importance, given the existing close cooperation with IRP in the fight against crime.
“The perspective of cooperation between both police forces, taking into account organized crime, will allow us to organize ourselves under several methods” explained the Commander General.
Longuinhos Monteiro advanced that, through this Seminar, the PNTL and the Badan Nacional Narkotik (National Narcotic Brigade (NNB)) demonstrated their commitment in cooperating in the fight against organized crime.
On this occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador in Timor-Leste, Primanto Hendrasmoro, spoke of the possibility of finding solutions related to organized crime and drug trafficking in Timor-Leste.
Present at the seminar, were a few members of civil society, of the Government, of the Church, University students and members of PNTL.
